Halloween in NC 2008

Hey folks,
the boy was once again a clonetrooper. (George Lucas has been hurting with the economic downturn so we wanted him to get some more of our money.) There are four churches within a mile of us and the two within walking distance had Fall festivals so we went there. Pretty nice set-ups with bounce tents and giant slides and games for the kids. Tali had a blast!
They also had a section where people would park their cars up in a line and hand out candy from their trunks. Kind of a trunk or treat thing which I'd never run into before. It was cool, although certainly different from my adventures as a kid when we would troop all over Cape Coral in search of that next Hershey's fix. We worked for that candy!
Taliesin also got majorly into It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. I'd forgotten how good that show was. Luckily enough the little guy had us watch it every single day for two weeks so I got enough time to renew my aquaintance with the program.

Way cool costume. My particular memories of Charlie Brown are of the jazz from Vince Guaraldi - you don't often think of jazz as child's milieu, but it really fits the story and helps tell the story too. The waltz in the Christmas show my favorite. I watch the Charlie Brown shows every year, sometimes by myself.

Did you ever see the PBS documentary special on Charles Schultz? Quite revealing about the artist - not much of a dad, himself he played out his best efforts through the Peanuts characters. It was actually quite disturbing to see how his family felt virtually "removed" from his world and said that nothing, absolutely nothing came before the comic strip. Maybe you're better off not seeing it. Next year I swear I am going to grow a pumpkin patch.
