Deer Hunt and a vivid memory - NOT

Here is a similiar story like Kenrick and Bruce pull out of their butt...

Ok Bruce - start pulling out the details on this one - we got up at 4:21am as we smelled the coffee brewing in the old trailer at Boggy Creek. I noticed the smell of puntang in the air as I made my way to the breakfast table. Mrs. DeBoest had made the standard compliment of scrambled eggs and bacon which we devoured. We headed out to the blind in the brown '83 four wheel drive Toyota. Powell and I waited in the blind and I remember the sun rising what seemed to be a little south of where I would have expected at that time of the year. Then out of the wood next to a rather large palmetto bush came the black pig with the deer right next to him. They seemed to be morning grazers to this area frequently. I slowly got my rifle in position as did Powell. We both shot simulatneously and they both dropped after several feet of running. We ran out to get the deer and pig and noticed how his little tail curled over three times which I thought was pretty cool at the time. We loaded up the truck and headed back to the camp - but we took the long path home instead of the way we arrived for we wanted to see how the other areas looked. The pig weighed in at just 84 pounds and the deer at 105 pounds. We headed back to the fort that night for I had an Algebra test on solving two equations with two unknowns and I had to study for it. Boy those were good times.

There is really only one part of the story that i can tell you about and that is the date on the back of the photo... Shark - buy you a beer if you are within threee months of the date....

Fresca Forever!

That's great news, Mark! Way to go on getting the help for the house and stuff! You definitely qualify with that hearing loss! I am very happy to hear things are going better in that regard and once you have a home again, wow - what a relief that will be.

How about we all crash there for a weekend? Ha! Just kidding. Kind of. No, seriously. No, really.

Tal is very lucky to have you for a father. You teach him stuff all the time that he will treasure forever. Fresca Forever! I know it will kill you to paint all those characters!

Ok, for the Relax '09 effort, let's narrow it down to like 3 weekends and see who can do that. Then we can figure out where to go. We have the following folks to invite:

Sharky
Fresca
Beach Bear
Stevie
Slobbie Bobbie
Jamie
Crawdaddy
JP
Kevin (who I sometimes refer to as Pasenfly - not sure why)
Me

Wow, wouldn't that be a great bunch to get together! Let's do this, men!

get together

Hey bums, I am a little swamped at the moment but in about a month I should have a lot more free time and I'll look into ideas for an easy-to-reach, affordable getaway that we can all hopefully make.

Biggest change for me right now is that I got approved for disability. (Yes, my hearing is that bad now.) So the 800 pound gorilla of financial uncertainty just got chucked out of the room. Huge relief, let me tell you. We've been scraping for a long time and even went on food stamps for awhile. But all of that is behind us and we're actually shopping for a house. So that is keeping me jumping. Plus, I signed up for some online courses through the local college. I'm taking Intro to Web Multimedia and Internet Development Tools. Hopefully, building the new skills to get me at least some part time work.

As far as the picture, we decided Taliesin was old enough to introduce him to some of the geekier games that I used to play as a kid. When we got to the store, he picked out this Lord of The Rings miniature battle set. Pretty cool except the figures come unpainted. So Dad gets to paint 40 some pieces, the tallest of which is 3" high. Lucky I have that lighted magnifying glass.
Oh, and the plastic Viking helmet, while not necessary to play the game, adds an immeasurable amount of fun!

Later,
Mark

RELAX in 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aye Aye! I too nominate Fresca! He can do all things! And make it look good to boot!
I am available the middle two weeks of June, the last 3 weeks of July and anytime in August until the 26th. My anniversary is the 27th!

I vote DC or Chi-Town! Heck, I too would return to FLA if that is what it takes.

Bear, I nominate you second in command. A Gilligan to Fresca's Skipper. A Costello to Abott. A Hardy to Laurel. A Cheech to Chong. etc,

Who's in?
EAT LOVE PRAY
Anyone read this book? Nothing like the present moment to seize life's ripe fruit. I highly recommend it. There is a sort of ethical digression of the woman's first marraige that you have to get past, but the section on eating in Italy is just fantastic. Guys, 2009 will go by even faster than 2008. Despite hurricanes, financial collapse, unemployment, deaths in families, and even births in families, its our relationships that carry the weight of our existence through the mire of daily being. Tally Ho, Men! Can we try to meet in Washington DC this spring or summer? Or maybe Chicago? Hell, I'd even break my vow and travel back to Florida (for a weekend) if that's what it takes. We need an organizer. A champion. A rouser of ambition. I nominate Mark - who has deftly demonstrated his ability to find lost things, make the ordinary beautiful, and craft a plain view into dynamic art. Any other nominations from the floor?
