Hey bums, I am a little swamped at the moment but in about a month I should have a lot more free time and I'll look into ideas for an easy-to-reach, affordable getaway that we can all hopefully make.
Biggest change for me right now is that I got approved for disability. (Yes, my hearing is that bad now.) So the 800 pound gorilla of financial uncertainty just got chucked out of the room. Huge relief, let me tell you. We've been scraping for a long time and even went on food stamps for awhile. But all of that is behind us and we're actually shopping for a house. So that is keeping me jumping. Plus, I signed up for some online courses through the local college. I'm taking Intro to Web Multimedia and Internet Development Tools. Hopefully, building the new skills to get me at least some part time work.
As far as the picture, we decided Taliesin was old enough to introduce him to some of the geekier games that I used to play as a kid. When we got to the store, he picked out this Lord of The Rings miniature battle set. Pretty cool except the figures come unpainted. So Dad gets to paint 40 some pieces, the tallest of which is 3" high. Lucky I have that lighted magnifying glass.
Oh, and the plastic Viking helmet, while not necessary to play the game, adds an immeasurable amount of fun!
Later,
Mark

Mark - that's great news about your financial ship getting back upright. I know exactly how you feel with all that weight upon you as a husband, a father, the provider...Glad to hear thigns are better. Course work is a great option. I am really wanting to get back to some schoolin, but the schedule won't allow it. I have half the credits (or had) for a masters in public policy from the Univ of Maryland but they won't offer any omre of thedegree on-line and I can't quite manage the family move to College Park MD for 18 months. Although it sounds like a lot of fun to me.
Rob Rose just emailed me from some link on a facebool page - I don't even know how to use facebook, so I am not sure how that works, but it was great to hear from him - something like 25-26 years has passed. Last I heard was when he had a disabled child born. Long time gone - nice to know he still remembers me. His email addess is rtrose66@gmail.com
Affordable is the name of the game for some sort of RELAX get -together. DC is probably too expensive. Maybe we all come to Charlotte? Whatever your temperature is it sounds good to me today. We had another foot of snow and then ice on top yesterday. My son had to climb up and knock off the top of the berm on the side of the driveway - just so we can see to pull out! 62 inches of snow so far and its only Jan 29! I am very glad to hear that your life/money situation has improved. GOOD NEWS. Good news comes to those who can pay it forward.
