We're a little chilly here. It's 40 degrees right now. At least it is still nice and sunny. The other week we headed out to King's Mountain park and did some hiking and canoeing and walked around their pioneer farm. The park is in South Carolina but it's only a 20 minute drive from us. A bit closer than some of the NC parks. The leaves are starting to change and this cold snap should really get them going.
The canoeing brought back some good memories from our old times on the Peace River.
Job leads come trickling in but no interviews or offers. This week's sources of hope are AAA of the Carolinas in Charlotte and a place called Learning-Focused in Boone. Boone is supposed to be a really pretty area, so that could be a good deal. Any regular paycheck would be a good deal right now. The freelance work is coming in spurts. I have done a couple of things for that guy down in Naples and I'm still holding out hope that he will become a big thing. I just finished a tee shirt project for him and he says if it does well he'll send me a bonus. Theresa got a job at a bank as a teller. It's only part time for now but she has been getting plenty of hours filling in for people on vacation so things should be okay through the holidays.
Tali has gotten into Batman recently. He had a couple of the Batman toys from McDonalds Happy Meals. We got him two and then my sister Kristi mailed him one. (He and her husband just had their first child - a boy named Kaden.) I took some craft foam and made him a little batarang that he can toss around the house without breaking anything. Then I made him a little face mask out of felt. It was pretty hilarious to watch him running around with that stuff. Brings back memories of tying a towel around my neck for a Superman cape. But enough about yesterday! LOL
Take care,
Mark

Hey Mark,
I should come hang out with Tali - I am really into Batman right now too. I loved the Dark Knight sequel released last month or whenever. And there's something attractive these days about a rich guy who actually does want to help people. Plus the car is awesome.
I may try my own batarang..
Cold here too - 26 this morning. Most leaves are gone, and certainly all are done changing color. We had a good foliage season -although brief. More wood to chop, more water to carry....
